Context
Kanał Sportowy launched in 2020 as the project of four of Poland's best-known sports journalists (Krzysztof Stanowski, Michał Pol, Tomasz Smokowski and Mateusz Borek), who joined forces to build the country's most unconventional sports channel online. Today the Kanał is the leader of Polish sports YouTube: over a million subscribers, and 25 million PLN in revenue in 2022 alone.

Process
We were brought on at the very start: the visual logo had just been designed, and the studio itself was still being built. A format with television-scale ambition needed an equally striking title sequence. Over more than a month we worked through a long list of ideas before settling on one: a strong, guitar-driven intro built on a melody simple enough to hum, or shout, from the stands. The final phrase runs on seven notes, a note-for-note syllabisation of the channel's own chant: "To! Jest! Ka-nał Spor-to-wy!" Composed by Rafał Konieczny and produced by Piotr Belak, it premiered with the channel in 2020 and became one of its most recognisable marks almost immediately.

System
The reception spoke for itself: on Wykop.pl, the overwhelming majority of comments about the intro came back positive or very positive, and the Kanał's co-founders confirmed it themselves on camera, more than once. Three years on, in 2023, we returned to extend the system: we refreshed Kanał Sportowy's title music and built a new two-minute countdown format for the run-up to every show, carrying the same seven-note motif into a new placement. Audience research carried out live at one of the "Zebrania Zarządu" broadcasts confirmed that 78% of viewers "really like" Kanał Sportowy's music.
